SinglePoint ACH Payments: NACHA Origination on FedACH & EPN

SinglePoint NACHA ACH origination handles the full spectrum of American automated clearing-house payments — Same-Day ACH, Next-Day and Second-Day batches across every Standard Entry Class code commercial treasury needs. U.S. Bank is an ODFI on both FedACH and EPN, so files from SinglePoint clear the fastest path to every receiving bank in the United States.

ACH volume crossed 31 billion payments in 2024 per the NACHA rules and network statistics. SinglePoint originates a meaningful share — payroll, vendor disbursement, customer debits, tax remittance, benefit payments and inter-company sweeps.

NACHA Standard Entry Classes in SinglePoint

Every NACHA Standard Entry Class (SEC) code has a specific use case. SinglePoint supports the set commercial clients need daily.

CCD and CCD+ (Corporate Credit/Debit)

CCD moves funds between two business accounts — cash concentration, subsidiary funding, B2B vendor payments. CCD+ adds one 80-character addenda record for free-form remittance. Both settle across FedACH or EPN on Same-Day or Next-Day windows. SinglePoint validates routing numbers and dollar fields before the file submits.

PPD (Prearranged Payment and Deposit)

PPD is the workhorse for consumer-facing payments — payroll direct deposit, pension benefits, consumer debits under signed authorization. Every SinglePoint payroll batch defaults to PPD. Settlement windows mirror CCD. Returns flow through the same exceptions queue with NACHA R-codes attached.

CTX (Corporate Trade Exchange)

CTX carries up to 9,999 addenda records per entry in EDI 820 format — the SEC code of choice for high-volume B2B remittance. SinglePoint parses EDI 820 payloads on upload and exposes remittance detail in transaction reporting for reconciliation.

WEB and TEL (Consumer Debits)

WEB authorizes consumer debits initiated online; TEL authorizes consumer debits taken by telephone. Both require that the originator retain the authorization record for two years per NACHA rules. SinglePoint stamps each WEB/TEL entry with authorization-method fields and a retention timer.

Same-Day ACH Windows and Settlement

Same-Day ACH moves funds in hours, not days — at a fraction of the cost of a wire.

File Specs, Prenotes & Returns

The mechanics of getting an NACHA file through SinglePoint cleanly.

NACHA File Format

SinglePoint accepts the standard NACHA flat file — File Header (record type 1), Company Batch Header (5), Entry Detail (6), Entry Addenda (7), Company Batch Control (8) and File Control (9). Each record is 94 characters; file length is a multiple of 940 bytes. SinglePoint validates hash totals, entry counts and routing number check digits at ingest. Malformed files return a structured error report identifying the failing record and field.

Originators can upload NACHA files via encrypted FTPS, SFTP or direct upload through the SinglePoint browser interface. Integrated accounting and ERP platforms connect via API for lights-out origination.

Prenotes, Reversals and PAD

A prenote is a zero-dollar NACHA entry that validates the receiving account before live money moves. SinglePoint schedules prenotes automatically on new master-file entries or at originator request. Prenotes return as R03/R04 if the account is invalid — originators fix the master file before the first live entry releases.

Reversals correct duplicate or erroneous files within 5 banking days of settlement per NACHA rules. PAD (Pre-Authorized Debit) templates allow one-click recurring debits against a pre-authorized consumer or business account. Stop-payments, R07 authorization revoked and R10 unauthorized returns flow to the same SinglePoint exceptions queue.

Return Codes R01 through R39

SinglePoint surfaces every NACHA return code from R01 (insufficient funds) through R39 (improper source document). The originator's exceptions queue sorts by code, dollar value, company batch and age. For R10 unauthorized and R07 authorization revoked, SinglePoint timestamps the return and calculates the 60-day re-credit window the ODFI must honour.

Per NACHA operating rules, originators must maintain a return rate below 15% overall, below 3% administrative and below 0.5% unauthorized. SinglePoint dashboards expose running return rates so the originator can remediate long before NACHA thresholds trigger.
